What is FilterCam AI?

FilterCam AI is a free, browser-based webcam filter tool that lets you apply over 50 real-time visual effects to your live camera feed. Think of it as Snapchat filters for your browser — but without the app download, without the account, and without any of your data leaving your device.

Whether you want to look more polished on a Zoom call, add creative effects to a Twitch stream, capture fun GIFs for social media, or just experiment with different looks — FilterCam AI gives you the tools to do it instantly, right in your browser tab.

Our Mission

We believe powerful creative tools should be accessible to everyone — for free, without barriers. The webcam filter space is dominated by apps that require installs, subscriptions, or account signups just to access basic features.

FilterCam AI flips that model. Every feature — all 50+ filters, AI background blur and removal, face AR overlays, video recording, GIF capture — is free and available immediately. No credit card. No email. No download. Just open your browser and start creating.

How It Works

FilterCam AI uses modern browser APIs to process your camera feed entirely on your own device:

• Canvas API — Your webcam stream is rendered to an HTML canvas element at up to 60fps, where CSS filter operations are applied in real time using your GPU.
• MediaPipe Selfie Segmentation — An on-device neural network (running via WebGL) detects your silhouette and separates you from your background, enabling blur, removal, and virtual background modes.
• face-api.js — A lightweight face detection and landmark model that tracks your facial features in real time, enabling AR overlays like dog ears, crowns, and sunglasses.
• MediaRecorder API — Records your filtered canvas stream as a WebM video file, directly in the browser.

All of this processing happens locally. Your camera feed is processed in memory, rendered to the screen, and optionally saved to your device. It is never uploaded to any server, never analyzed by third parties, and never stored anywhere outside of your browser tab.

Privacy by Design

“We never access your camera feed” isn't just a policy statement for us — it is technically impossible given how FilterCam AI is built. Our code runs in your browser. There is no server that receives your video. There is no database storing your face. There is no AI model in the cloud analyzing your appearance.

The only data that leaves your device is standard web analytics (page views, session duration) — the same data any website collects — and ad serving (if applicable). We are transparent about this in our Privacy Policy.

FilterCam AI is an independent project built by a small team of developers who love creative tools, browser technology, and the idea that privacy and power don't have to be mutually exclusive.
